Abstract: Microwave irradiated solvent reflux extraction was applied to the extraction of alkaloids from Radix Sophorae Flavescentis with ethanol.After removal of ethanol,the residue was dissolved in dil.HCl and extracted with chloroform to remove impurities and alkaloids in the aqueous phase was extracted into chloroform from a alkaline medium.Chloroform was removed by evaporation and residue was dissolved in a definite amount of methanol,which was used for GC-MS analysis.7 alkaloids were separated and determined.As compared with the conventional solvent reflux extraction without using microwave irradiation,much higher efficiency of extraction was attained by the present method.
