Abstract: Authors′ viewpoint and suggestions for correction of the confusion in naming or terminology of various kinds of reference materials used in instrumental analysis of spectrometry were proposed.Specificities of spectroscopic reference materials including their important role in spectrometry,the relation of usages among different kinds of reference materials and thier functions,the principle regarding the choice of reference materials in analysis and notations of correct use of reference materials in the course of spectroscopic analysis,were discussed in detail.
