Abstract: A method of steam distillation followed by solvent extraction and a combined method of distillation with solvent extraction were separately adopted for the collection of volatile constituents in Chrysanthemum indicum L.from Qianshan.The yields of the oily collection were 6.1% for the former method and 7.0% for the combined method respectively.GC/MS was used for the identification of the chemical constituents in the volatile oil and a method of normalized peak area was used for the determination of the percentage content.Thirty-four constituents with content of 89.47% in the oil collected by the former method and 29 constituents with content of 90.72% in the oil collected by the later method were identified.
