Abstract
A method of resonance light scattering spectroscopy was proposed for the determination of carbomer, based on the significant increases in the intensity of the resonance scattering light due to self-aggregations of carbomer in strong acid medium. Under optimized conditions, the linearity ranges of carbomer 940, 971P and 974P were 20-120 mg·L-1, 50-300 mg·L-1, and 20-300 mg·L-1, respectively, and the detection limits (3σ) were 0.2, 0.03, 0.14 μg· L-1, respectively. The method was used to analyze samples, giving recovery rates in the range of 96.9%-100%, and RSD (n=6) in the range of 1.2%-2.3%.
