Abstract
Automatic IR oil analyzer was used to determine oil in water. Carbon tetrachloride for oil determination and chemically pure tetrachlorethylene were used as extracting agents to extract the oil in water for comparison. Results showed that the detection limit, accuracy and precision of the method with tetrachlorethylene as extracting agent matched those with carbon tetrachlorides as extracting agent, and met the determination requirements of automatic analysis of oil in water depended on infrared spectrophotometry. Tetrachlorethylene could be used as a substitute of carbon tetrachloride to extract oil in water for automatic IR oil analyzer.
