Determination of Seven Arsenic Species in Poultry Biological Samples by HPLC-ICP-MS

    • HPLC-ICP-MS was applied to the determination of seven arsenic species, including arsenobetaine, dimethyl arsenic, As(Ⅲ), monomethyl arsenic, As(Ⅴ), arsanilic acid and nitrobenzene arsenic acid, in poultry biological samples. Arsenic in samples was extracted with artificial gastric juice by ultrasonic oscillation method, and the seven arsenic species were separated on a Dionex IonPacTM AS19 ion exchange column and determined by ICP-MS. Linear relationships were found between peak areas and mass concentrations of the seven arsenic speues in defined ranges, with detection limits (3s) in the range of 0.070-0.099 μg·L-1. Recovery rates obtained by standard addition method were in the range of 74.0%-112%, and RSDs (n=6) were in the range of 2.0%-5.9%. The method was used to analyze poultry biological samples in mining area, giving the sum of contents of seven arsenic species in agreement with the contents of total arsenic determined by ICP-MS.
