IC Determination of 5 Acids in Hydrolysis Products of Cellulose

    • IC was applied to the determination of 5 acids, i.e. levulinic acid, formic acid, acetic acid, propanoic acid and H2SO4 in hydrolysis products of cellulose. The sample of hydrolysis products of cellulose was diluted. Potassium hydroxide solution was used as eluant, and restraining conductance detector was used in determination. Linear relationships between values of peak area and mass concentration of the 5 acids were kept in definite ranges. Detection limits (3S/N) found were ranged from 0.001 to 0.008 mg·L-1. The proposed method was applied to the analysis of the sample of hydrolysis products of cellulose, giving values of RSD's (n=5) in the range of 0.45%-4.8%. On the base of blank sample, test for recovery was made by standard addition method; values of recovery found were in the range of 91.0%-109%.
