    GC-MS Determination of Sodium 2-(4-Methoxyphenoxy) Propionate in Foods

    • GC-MS was applied to the determination of sodium 2-(4-methoxyphenoxy) propionate in foods. The food sample was extracted with ethyl acetate after acidification of HCl (1+1) solution. The DB-FFAP quartz capillary chromatographic column was used for GC separation and the selected ion monitoring mode was adopted in MS determination. Linearity range of 2-(4-methoxyphenoxy) propionic acid was found between 5.0 mg·L-1 and 100 mg·L-1 with lower limits of determination (10S/N) of 4 mg·kg-1. On the base of blank sample, test for recovery was made by standard addition method; values of recovery found were in the range of 79.5%-92.2%, with RSD's (n=6) in the range of 3.2%-6.2%.
