    HPLC Determination of N,N-Dimethylformamide in Exhaust Gas of Synthetic Leather

    • HPLC was applied to the determination of N,N-dimethylformamide in exhaust gas of synthetic leather. The sample of exhaust gas of synthetic leather was adsorbed with water and then was filtered on 0.45 μm aqueous filtering membrane. Waters PAH C18 (250 mm×4. 6 mm, 5 μm) chromatographic column was used as stationary phase, and acetonitrile (5+95) solution was used as mobile phase. Detection at 198 nm was adopted in the determination. Linear relationship between values of peak area and mass concentration of N,N-dimethylformamide was kept in the range of 0.01-50.0 mg·L-1, with N,N-dimethylformamide detection limits of 0.001 mg·m-3 (for fugitive emission exhaust gas) and 0.010 mg·m-3 (for gaseous pollutants emission from the high chimney). On the base of blank sample, test for recovery was made by standard addition method, values of recovery found were 93.0%, 94.5%, with RSD's (n=6) of 5.1%, 3.6%.
