GC-MS Determination of Residual Amounts of Epichlorohydrin in Glycol Diglycidyl Ether

    • Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was proposed for determination of residual amounts of epichlorohydrin in glycol diglycidyl ether. The sample (5.000 0 g) was placed into 10 mL of volumetric flask, diluted and made its volume up with ethanol. After ultrasonic treatment, the solution obtained was separated through HP-5MS capillary column by GC at carrier gas flow programmed and column temperature programmed. Electron impact ion source (EI) and selected ion monitor (SIM) mode were adopted in MS analysis. Linear relationship between values of peak area and mass concentration of epichlorohydrin was obtained in range of 12.06-602.97 mg·L-1, with lower limits of determination (10S/N) of 4.21 mg·L-1 and value of RSDs (n=8) of 0.51%. Test for recovery was made by standard addition method, giving results in the range of 94.2%-97.1%.
