A review on the application of modern analysis techniques, i.e. spectroscopy(including spectrophotometry, fluorescence analysis, chemiluminescence, infrared spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy), chromatography (including thin layer chromatography, gas chromatography and liquid chromatography), mass spectrometry (including gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry), electrochemistry, immunoassay and so on in detection of papaverine recently was presented. Prospects on the trends of development in this field were also given (93 ref. cited).
