Abstract
The essential oil of patchouli was extracted by steam distillation, and ethanol solution of patchouli essential oil with mass fraction of 0.1% was prepared and sprayed evenly onto cut tobacco with the addition amount based on the mass ratio of essential oil to cut tobacco of 0.03%, and the pipe tobacco was rolled into cigarettes. The essential oil sprayed cut tobacco was then used to prepare cigarettes, which were smoked artificially and the filters obtained were placed immediately added into 30 mL of ethanol and extracted ultrasonically at room temperature for 30 min. 2 mL of the supernatant were taken and filtered through 0.45 μm organic membrane, the filtraded was used for GC-MS analysis. Linearity ranges of patchouli alcohol and pogostone were both 0.050-2.00 mg·L-1 with detection limits (3s) of 0.09 and 0.06 μg·cig-1, reapectively. Values of recovery obtained by standard addition method ranged from 90.0% to 103%, and RSDs (n=6) of both intra-day and inter-day were less than 4.0%. The proposed method was used to determine the transfering rate of patchouli alcohol and pogostone in mainstream of cigarette smoke, giving results of 11.82% and 19.71%, respectively.
