    Simultaneous Determination of n-Butanol, iso-Butanol, n-Butanal and iso-Butanal in Water by GC with Headspace

    • GC with headspace was applied to the simultaneous determination of n-butanol, iso-butanol, n-butanal and iso-butanal in water. The equilibrium temperature and heating equilibrium time of head space were set at 60℃ and 30 min. The analytes were separated on HP-INNOWAX chromatographic column (30.0 m×0.53 mm, 1.0 μm) and detected by FID. Linear relationships between values of peak area and mass concentration of the 4 compounds were kept in definite ranges. Detection limits of the method ranged from 6.96 μg·L-1 to 11.17 μg·L-1. On the base of blank sample, test for recovery was made by standard addition method. Values of recovery found were in the range of 80.0%-116%, with RSD's (n=6) in the range of 3.2%-9.1%.
