GC Determination of Trimethyl Tin Chloride in Plastic Food Packaging Material

Abstract
    The content of trimethyl tin chloride in plastic food packaging material was determined by GC with electron capture detector (ECD). Sample was extracted with ethyl acetate and separated on J&W DB-17 capillary column (30 m×0.25 mm, 0.25 μm). Linear relationship between values of peak area and mass concentration of trimethyl tin chloride was obtained in the range of 0.334-26.76 mg·L-1, with detection limit (3s) of 0.000 6 mg·L-1. Test for recovery was made by standard addition method, giving results in the range of 77.6%-83.3%. Values of RSD′s (n=6) found were in the range of 2.5%-4.6%.
