Study on Electrochemical Behavior of Sparfloxacin by Linear Scanning Voltammetry

    • The electrochemical behavior of sparfloxacin was studied by linear scanning voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry. In 0.05 mol·L-1 H2SO4 solution,a sensitive reduction peak given by sparfloxacin was observed at -1.29 V (vs.Ag/AgCl).Linear relationship between values of peak current and concentration of sparfloxacin in the range of 1.0×10-6-1.5×10-4mol·L-1 was obtained, with a detection limit (3S/N) of 2.0×10-7mol·L-1.The proposed method was used in the analysis of sparfloxacin tablets, giving value of RSD (n=6) of 2.4% and recovery in the range of 96.2%-105.0%.It was shown that, the reduction of sparfloxacin is a completely irreversible process, controlled mainly by adsorption.
