    GC Determination of Residual Amounts of Nitrobenzenes in Water with Capillary Chromatographic Column

    • Gas chromatography with capillary column (HP-5) was applied to the determination of residual amounts of nitrobenzenes in water.The sample was extracted with benzene and the extract was used for GC analysis with electron capture detector.Ten nitrobenzenes were separated satisfactorily and determined within 28 min.Values of detection limit (2S/N) and RSD′s (n=7) of 10 nitrobenzene compounds found were in the ranges of 1.0×10-3-7.0×10-2μg·L-1 and 1.5%-4.5% respectively.The proposed method was used in determinations of nitrobenzene compounds in samples of surface water and waste water,giving values of recovery ranged from 80.2% to 104.5%.
