Abstract
Effect of different types of humectants (i.e., propylene glycol, glycerol humectant 27664#, xylitol and sorbitol) on chemical components of cigarette smoke were studied, including total particulate matter (TPM), nicotine, water, tar, constituents of aromatic components and harmful materials. It was found that: ① the contents of TPM, nicotine, water and tar in cigarette smoke were changed remarkably with the addition of the humectants; ② compared with blank cigarette smoke, the total amounts of aromatic components were increased remarkably with the addition humectants, while the contents of harmful materials (benzene compounds and amine) were also increased.
