    Scanning TLC Determination of Lauromacrogol

    • Thin layer chromatography (TLC) was applied to the determination of lauromacrogol in its preparations.A dual-wavelength thin layer chromatographic scanner (CS-930) was used in the determination.A slurry of silica gel G and solution of sodium carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) was made and spread evenly on the plate in the size of 10 cm×10 cm.After being dried,it was activated for 30 min at 105 ℃ in an electric oven.Solutions of samples and standard lauromacrogol in ethanol were spotted (5 μL per spot) on the thin layer plate using quantitative micro-capillary spot-sampler.After developing and drying, the spots (both of sample and standard) were colorized in iodine vapor, and then taken out and sealed hermetically. After staying for 30 min,the spots were scanned as described. The measuring wavelength was taken at the absorption maxima of 430 nm.Linear relationship between the integral of spot area and concentration of lauromacrogol in the spot was kept in the range from 10 to 50 μg per spot.Value of RSD′s (n=6) found was 1.28%.Value of average recovery of 5 determinations was found as 100.3%.
