IC Determination of Total Chlorine in Polyphenyl Thioether with Sample Treatment by Oxygen Bomb Combustion

    • The sample of polyphenyl thioether was combusted in oxygen bomb and the chlorine or chloride released was absorbed in superpure water. The content of total chlorine in the water solution was determined by IC. The Metrosep A Supp 5-250 column was used as ion exchange colum, and a mixture of 3.2 mmol·L-1 Na2CO3-1.0 mmol·L-1 NaHCO3 was used as eluent. The proposed method has been used in the analysis of the standard samples of mineral oil (AOD 1.11) and polyethylene (ERM-EC 681K), the results obtained were in corformity with their standard values.
