HPLC Determination of Limonin in Citrus Peels

    • HPLC was applied to the determination of limonin in citrus peels. The sample was ultrasonically extracted with (φ) 70% ethanol solution at 50 ℃ for 75 min. Sinochrom ODS-BP (250 mm×4.6 mm, 10 μm) column was used as stationary phase, a mixture of acetonitrile and water mixed in the ratio of 45 to 55 (by volume) was used as mobile phase; UV-detection at 210 nm was used in the determination. Linear relationship between values of peak area and mass concentration of limonin was obtained in the range of 12.0-384 mg·L-1. Values of average recovery and RSD (n=5) found were 99.9% and 1.8% respectively.
