    Potentiometric Determination of Sorbic Acid with Solid Paraffin Sorbic Acid Modified Carbon Paste Electrode

    • Solid paraffin sorbic acid modified carbon paste electrode based on the complex of ethyl violet with sorbic acid as electroactive material was prepared and its electrochemical properties were studied. Good response of this ion selective electrode against sorbic acid was obtained giving linearity range from 2.2×10-5 to 1.0×10-1mol·L-1, with detection limit of 1.6×10-5mol·L-1. The modified electrode was used in the potentiometric determination of sorbic acid in food, and results obtained were found to be checked quite well with those obtained by spectrophotometry.
