HPLC Determination of Ornidazole in Ornidazole Vaginal Effervescent Tablets

HPLC was applied to the determination of ornidazole in ornidazole vaginal effervescent tablets.Kromasil C18 column (4.6 mm×250 mm,5 μm) was used as stationary phase,and methanol-water(30+70) solution was used as mobile phase in the HPLC analysis with UV detection at the wavelength of 319 nm.Linear relationship between values of peak area and mass concentration of ornidazole was obtained in the range of 20.0-80.0 mg·L-1.The proposed method was used in the determination of ornidazole in ornidazole vaginal effervescent tablets,values of recovery found by standard addition method were in the range of 98.9%-100.1%.Values of RSD′s (n=6) found were less than 0.9%.
