Abstract
In a B-R buffer medium of pH 5.0,enhancement of intensity of resonance scattering of the reaction between ionic liquid C16mimBr and sodium alginate was observed. The magnitude of increase in resonance Rayleigh scattering intensity (ΔI) was found to keep linear relationship with the mass concentration of C16mimBr in the range of 1.9-12.0 mg·L-1 when measured at 392 nm (the maximum scattering wavelength of the reaction system).Detection limit (3s/k) of the method was found to be 76.7 μg·L-1.Based on these facts,a simple and rapid method for determination of C16mimBr was proposed. In its application to analysis of water samples for their C16mimBr contents, values of recovery and RSD′s (n=6) found were in the ranges of 97.8%-102.3% and 1.87%-3.01%,respectively.
