Abstract
Based on the fact that a complex is formed between the intramolecular charge transferring (ICT) compound, 1-keto-2-(p-dimethylaminobenzal)-tetrabydronaphthalene (KDTN), and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and that in a B-R buffer medium of pH 9.18, a ternary supermolecular system is formed between the complex of KDTN with β-CD and the bovine serum albumin (BSA) which emits fluorescence at the emission maximum of 540 nm, a fluorophotometric method for determination of BSA using the complex of KDTN-β-CD as a new fluorescence probe was proposed. Linear relationship was kept between values of fluorescence intensity and mass concentration of BSA in the range of 3.3-662 mg·L-1, with detection limit (3S/N) of 1.6 mg·L-1. Recovery was tested by standard addition method, giving values of average recovery and RSD (n=11) of 99.4% and 2.2% respectively.
