Application of GC-MS Fingerprint Atlas to Determination of Tobacco Essence and Flavor with Ultrasound Assisted Liquid-Liquid Extraction

    • The chromatographic fingerprint atlas of tobacco essence and flavor were established by GC-MS with ultrasonic liquid-liquid extraction (ULLE). A mixture of CH2Cl2 and CH3CH2OH (9+1) was used as extraction solvent and saturated NaCl solution was used as aqueous phase. Time taken for ultrasonic extraction was 10 min. Sample 1187 of tobacco essence and flavor was taken for analysis. Totally 25 compounds were separated, among which 23 components were identified. Good similarities between the chromatographic fingerprint atlases of the 11 batches of samples were obtained. Two samples mixed with other kind of flavor components were obviously distinguished from the 11 batches of samples of 1187 by principle component analysis (PCA). A comprehensive inspection on the quality of tobacco essence and flavor was attained by the proposed method.
