Abstract
A method of HPLC for the determination of sodium 2-(4-methoxy phenoxy) propionate in food was proposed. The sample solution saturated with sodium chloride was extracted with acetonitile and purified by n-hexane. The purified acetonitrile phase was taken and separated by using Agilent TC-C18 (250 mm×4.6 mm, 5 μm) chromatographic column as stationary phase, and a mixture of 0.05% (φ) phosphoric acid solution and methanol (50+50) as mobile phase. UV-detection at 224 nm was adopted in the determination. Linear relationship between values of peak area and mass concentration of sodium 2-(4-methoxy phenoxy) propionate was kept in the range of 0.20-5.00 mg·L-1, with detection limit (3S/N) of 0.3 mg·kg-1. On the base of blank food sample, test for recovery was made by standard addition method; values of recovery found were in the range of 91.3%-107%, with RSD′s (n=6) in the range of 1.7%-8.2%.
