    GC-MS Determination of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Bacon with Microwave Assisted Extraction

    • Sample of bacon was extracted with a mixture of acetone and n-hexane(1+1) with the help of microwave heating at 80 ℃ for 10 min.The extract containing the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH′s) was purified by passing through a column packed with neutral aluminum oxide.PAH′s on the column were desorbed by elution with a mixture of n-hexane and dichloromethane(1+1).The eluates was collected,concentrated to a definite volume and used for GC-MS determination.Under the optimum analytical conditions,16 PAH′s were separated and determined with values of recovery in the range of 87.5%-102.4%,and of RSD′s (n=6) ranged from 2.3%-5.3%.
