    ICP-AES Determination of Major and Minor Elements in Brasses

    • A new method for the determination of major elements including Cu and Zn, minor elements including Ni, Pb, Al, Sn, Fe, Mn, P and Co, in brasses by ICP-AES was proposed in this paper. The spectral interferences was corrected by using spectral interference correction coefficient method, and interferences of the matrix elements were eliminated by internal standard and synchronous background correction. Analytical spectral lines for the elements in the determination were selected. Linear relationships between values of signal intensity and mass fraction (w%) of the elements were obtained in definite ranges. The proposed method was used in the analysis of 2 unknown samples and 3 standard samples. The results obtained were in consistency with the standard values, and with values obtained by photoelectric direct-reading atomic emission spectrometry and chemical method.
