Abstract
A new derivative of cyclodextrin namely 2,3-di-O-methoxyethyl-6-O-benzyl-β-cyclodextrin was synthesized by substituting the OH-group at 2 and 3 positions of the β-cyclodextrin molecule by methoxyethyl groups, and OH-group at 6 position by benzyl group. This compound was used as a chiral stationary phase coated on the quartz capillary chromatographic column with total concentration of 5 g·L-1. The column property and separation capacity of this capillary column were studied. It was found that excellent separation efficiency was obtained on this column for the following compounds: Grob test mixture, disubstituted benzene isomers (e.g., dichlorobenzene, nitrotoluene, bromotoluene, etc.) and several chiral compounds [e.g., α-ethyl-2-methoxybenzyl alcohol, α-ethyl-3-methoxy benzyl alcohol, α-methyl-4-chlorobenzylcyanide, α-benzyl-4-chlorobenzyl cyanide, 1-(2′,4′-dichlorophenoxy)-2-propanol and methyl-2-bromopropionate].
