Abstract
A novel sensitive chemiluminescence (CL) system coupled with flow injection analysis for the determination of cimetidine in pharmaceutical preparations is proposed in this paper.The method is based on the chemiluminescence emitted during the oxidation of cimetidine by N-bromosuccinimide (NBSM) in alkaline medium in the presence of fluorescein as energy transfer.CL of the system was enhanced by CTMAB.Various factors influential to CL system were investigated carefully.The possible mechanism of the proposed method was also studied preliminarily.The increase of CL emission intensity kept linearity with cimetidine concentration in the range of 8×10-5-1×10-1g·L-1 and the detection limit is 2.8×10-5g·L-1 (3σ).The relative standard deviation is 1.4% (at the level of 3×10-3g·L-1,n=11).The proposed method has been successfully used for the determination of cimetidine in capsules.
