Abstract
HPLC was applied to the simultaneous determination of residual amounts of 17 phthalates in waterbased adhesives with liquidliquid extraction. After dispersed in water, the sample was extracted by ethyl acetate. The extract was centrifuged and the supernatant was filtered on 0.45 μm organic filtering membrane. DIONEX Acclaim explosives E2 column was used as stationary phase for separation, and mixtures of acetonitrile and water in different ratios were used as mobile phase in the gradient elution. UVdetection at 220 nm was adopted in the determination. Linear relationships between values of peak area and mass concentration of the 17 phthalates were kept in the same range of 0.4-20.0 mg·L-1, with detection limits (3s) in the range of 0.024-0.114 mg·L-1 and lower limits of determination (10s) in the range of 0.079-0.379 mg·L-1. Values of recovery found by standard addition method were in the range of 89.7%-101%, and values of RSD′s (n=5) less than 6.0%.
