Abstract
The behaviors and conditions of separation of pyrocatechol violet complexes of Be(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅲ),Fe(Ⅱ),Cr(Ⅲ),Mn(Ⅱ) and Al(Ⅲ) by the binary aqueous phase extraction system of polyethylene glycol 2000 (PEG-2000)-Na2SO4-pyrocatechol violet (PV) were studied systematically. As shown by experimental results that Be(Ⅱ) in solution of pH 3.5-7.0,and Fe(Ⅲ) in solution of pH 4.0-7.0 were almost completely extracted into the PEG phase, while Al(Ⅲ) and Cr(Ⅲ) in solution of pH 1.0-7.0,Mn(Ⅱ) in solution of pH 1.0-4.5 and Fe(Ⅱ) in solution of 1.0-4.5 were not extracted.Be(Ⅱ) in solution of pH 3.5 and Fe(Ⅲ) in solution of pH 5.0 were quantitatively separated from Fe(Ⅱ),Al(Ⅲ),Cr(Ⅲ) and Mn(Ⅱ) ions in their mixed solutions. The mechanism of extraction of complexes of PV with related ions in the PEG phase was studied preliminarily.
