RP-HPLC Determination of Tea Saponin in Tea-seed Cake

Abstract
Tea-seed cake sample was pulverized and extracted with methanol in a soxhlet′s extractor,and an aliquot of the extract was taken for HPLC determination.RP-ODS C18 (150 mm×4.6 mm,5 μm) was used as chromatographic column and methanol used as mobile phase at a flow-rate of 0.50 mL·min-1.UV-detector at 280 nm was used in the measurement.Linear relationship between peak area and mass concentration of tea saponin was obtained as shown by the regression equation Y=3.54×106X+1.15×105 (r=0.999 7).Results of recovery test were in the range of 97.2%-102.1%,and values of RSD′s (n=7) found were less than 0.35%.
