High Performance Capillary Electrophoretic Determination of Huperzine A in Huperzine A Tablets

Abstract
A method for the separation and determination of huperzine A in its tablets by capillary electrophoresis was proposed. An acetate buffer solution of pH 4.6 was used as background electrolyte, and a moving voltage of 13 kV was applied. UV-detection at the wavelength of 310 nm was adopted. Linear relationship between values of peak area and mass concentration of huperzine A was kept in the range of 5.0-60 mg·L-1. The proposed method was applied to the determination of huperzine A in its tablets, giving values of recovery obtained by standard addition method in the range of 97.8%-98.7%, and RSD′s (n=5) in the range of 0.53%-0.85%.
