Determination of 21 Elements in Rolled Carbon Steel by Direct-Reading Spectrometry

    • Contents of C, Si, Mn, P, S, Ni, Cr, Cu, Mo, V, Nb, Al, B, Ca, Ti, W, Pb, As, Sn, Sb and Zn in samples of rolled carbon steel were determined by direct-reading spectrometry. Flow-rate and irrigation time of argon used in the determination were taken at 0.7 MPa and 5.0 s respectively, and electrode distance was taken at 2.85 mm. Under the optimized experimental conditions, values of RSD′s (n=12) of the 21 elements found were in the range of 0.3%-15%. The proposed method was applied to the analysis of wire and bar samples, and the results obtained were in conformity with those found by chemical method.
