    Linear Scanning Valtammetric Determination of Fleroxacin

    • The electrochemical behavior of fleroxacin at glassy carbon electrode was studied by linear scanning voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry. In 0.10 mol·L-1 phosphate buffer solution of pH 6.5 containing Cu(Ⅱ) ion, two reduction peaks given by Cu(Ⅱ) ion were observed at -0.136 V and -0.728 V, and their peak current decreased with addition of fleroxacin while keeping their reduction peak potentials unchanged. Under the optimized conditions, linear relationship between values of peak current obtained at -0.136 V and concentration of fleroxacin was kept in the range of 6.40×10-7-1.5×10-4mol·L-1, with detection limit of 2.10×10-7mol·L-1. The proposed method has been used in the determination of content of fleroxacin in its tablets, and values of recovery found were in the range of 96.8%-103.5%.
