ICP-AES Determination of Lead in Ferrous Alloys——Elimination of Interferences by Correction with FACT and Standard Addition Method in Combination

    • The FACT software correction technique in combination with standard addition method (SAD) was used to eliminate matrix and spectral interferences simultaneously in ICP-AES determination of lead in ferrous alloys. In the study, ICP-AES determination of lead in mixed solution by the 3 ways separately: ① without correction, ② corrected by SAD method, and ③ corrected by FACT and SAD in combination. Analytical spectral lines of 182, 217, 220 nm were used in the determinations. It was shown that: in case of ①, due to negative effect of matrix interference, low results of lead were obtained; in case of ②, values of lead contents found were very close to the known values. It was supposed that this results was the combining effect of SAD and the automatic “Fitted” correction function of the soft ware installed in the AES instrument; and in case of ③, contents of lead obtained showed highest accuracy. In applying the achievements to analysis of iron nails, content of lead found was very close to the known value, showing that both the matrix and spectral interferences were eliminated effectively.
