    GC Determination of Acetaldehyde, Acrolein and Acrylonitrile in Water with Purge and Trap Technique

    • Purge and trap technique was applied in the GC determination of acetaldehyde, acrolein and acrylonitrile in water. The analytes were purged, trapped and thermodesorbed using the Trap Vocarb 3000, and determined by GC with flame ionization detector (FID). Linear relationships between values of peak area and mass concentration of acetaldehyde, acrolein and acrylonitrile obtained were same in the range of 0.020-0.20 mg·L-1, with detection limits (3S/N) of 0.005, 0.010, 0.001 mg·L-1 respectively. Tests for recovery and precision were made by standard addition method, values of recovery found were in the range of 90.0%-110.0% and values of RSD′s (n=7) were less than 5%.
