    HPLC Determination of Terpineols in Products of Deep Processing of Terpentine Oil

    • HPLC was applied to the analysis of deep-processing products of terpentine oil.Enantiotropic isomers of (-)α-terpineol and (+)α-terpineol and some other component were separated on the chromatographic column of waters porasil (4.6 mm×300 mm) under room temperature.A mixture composed of n-hexane and ethylacetate (99+1 by volume) was used as mobile phase.UV-detector at 238 nm was used in the measurement and external standard method was used in the determination.Linear relationships between the absorbance and concentration of terpineols were obtained in the ranges of 0.61-11.20 g·L-1 for (-)α-terpineol,and 0.8-13.0 g·L-1 for (+)α-terpineol,corresponding to the regression equations of A=0.806+15.90 C (r=0.999 8) and A=0.108 6+17.63 C (r=0.999 7) respectively.Precision and recovery were tested,giving values of RSD′s (n=5) 1.54% and 1.06% respectively.Values of recovery of the isomers were in the ranges of 90%-112% and 93%-112% respectively.
