Axially Viewed ICP-AES Determination of 24 Elements in Natural Textile Fibre

    • Axially viewed ICP-AES was applied to the determination of 24 elements in natural textile fibre. The sample (0.5 g) was taken and digested in a microwave digestor with 8 mL of HNO3 under the temperature elevation program from 150 ℃ to 200 ℃ for a total of 40 min. The digested solution was made up to a volume of 25 mL with 7 mol·L-1 HNO3 solution, and used for ICP-AES analysis. A CRM of cotton fibre (IAEA-V-9) was treated in the same way as the sample and used as a quality-control sample. Working conditions of the instrument were chosen as follows: ① flow-rate of nebulizer gas: 0.8 L·min-1; ② RF power: 1 250 W; and ③ time interval of reading with manual sample injection: 60 s. It was found that: values of detection limits (3s) for the 24 elements were found in the range of 0.3 to 59.7 μg·L-1; linearity ranges were kept within 10.0 mg·L-1 for each of the elements; no loss of analytic elements was observed during the process of microwave assisted sample digestion; in the analysis of the CRM IAEA-V-9 by this method, values of relative error (n=11) of 14 elements determined found were ranged from -38.8% to 49.6%.
