GC-MS Determination of Antioxidants in Cosmetics

A method of GC-MS for the determination of 3 antioxidants,e.g.butyl hydroxyanisole (BHA),butyl hydroxytoluene (BHT) and tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) in cosmetics was proposed.The sample was dissolved with methanol,vortically oscillated for 3 min and ultrasonically extracted for 10 min.The contents of the 3 antioxidants were determined by GC-MS.Ions of m/z 165,205 and 151 were used for the quantitative analysis.Values of limit of determination (10S/N) of BHA,BHT and TBHQ found were 4,3 and 10 mg·kg-1 respectively,and of recovery were ranged from 73.8% to 114.0%.
