HPLC Determination of 2-(Thiocyanomethylthio)benzothiazole in Wood Products

Abstract
A method of HPLC for the determination of 2-(thiocyanomethylthio)benzothiazole (TCMTB) in wood products was proposed. The wood sample was extracted twice ultrasonically with acetonitrile for 20 min, and the extract was filtered on 0.45 μm filtering membrane. C18 column was used as stationary phase and a mixture of acetonitrile and water (80+20) was used as mobile phase. The eluate obtained was determined with DAD at the wavelength of 225 nm. Linear relationship between values of peak area and mass concentration of TCMTB was kept in the range of 0.5-10.0 mg·L-1, with detection limit (3S/N) of 0.41 mg·kg-1. Using blank sample of wood as matrix, values of recovery found by standard addition method were in the range of 89.0%-96.3%, with RSD′s (n=5) in the range of 2.2%-6.3%.
