Flow Injection-chemiluminescence Determination of Resorcinol

Based on the striking inhibition of the chemiluminescence (CL) produced through the reaction between potassium ferricyanide and luminol in an alkaline solution by resorcinol,a new method for determination of resorcinol by FI-chemiluminescence was proposed.Linear relationship between the magnitude of decrease in CL intensity (ΔI) and concentration of resorcinol was obtained in the range from 1.0×10-7 to 1.0×10-5mol·L-1 with detection limit (3σ) of 2.0×10-8mol·L-1.Samples of ground water and “Piyan′ning” tincture were analyzed for their resorcinol contents,and tests for precision and recovery were made on the base of these samples as matrix.Values of RSD′s (n=7) and recovery found were in the ranges of 1.9%-2.1% and 98.8%-103.0% respectively.
