Abstract
Here we studied on the selection of external pyrotechnics pharmaceutical coating material by a comprehensive analysis of the diagrams of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and the kinetics. DSC was used to study thermal properties of explosives mixed with different coating materials at different heating rates. The Ozawa method and DSC curve comparison method were used to examine the coating materials. The changes of DSC curve characterization, peak temperature and apparent activation energy were the smallest when the explosive was mixed with acrylic varnish, while the changes were modest when it was mixed with rapid hardener with significant changes on the DSC curve at the higher heating rate. The largest changes occurred when the explosive was mixed with silicone rubber. It was concluded that acrylic varnish was the most suitable coating material for that explosive.
