Abstract
The weak chemiluminescence (CL),produced by the redox reaction between sodium periodate and hydrogen peroxide in dil. H3PO4 medium, was greatly enhanced by the presence of penicillamine. Base on this fact, and by applying the flow injection technique,a new method of FI-CL determination of penicillamine was praposed. Linear relationship between CL intensity and concentration of pencillamine was obtained in the range of 1.0×10-6-8.0×10-4mol·L-1,with a detection limit of 5.6×10-7mol·L-1. Precision of the method was tested at the concentration level of 8.0×10-5mol·L-1 of penicillamine with 7 determinations, giving value of RSD of 1.9%. In the determination of penicillamine content in a sample of penicillamine tablets, the result obtained was in consistency with the result obtained by pharmacopeia method. Test for recovery was made by adding standard penicillamine solution in different amounts from 6×10-5 to 2×10-4mol·L-1,and values of recovery obtained were in the range of 97.8% to 104.4%. A brief discussion of chemism of the CL reaction was also given.
