ICP-AES Determination of Total Amount of Sulfur in Glass

Abstract
A rapid and accurate method of ICP-AES determination of total amount of sulfur in glass was reported.Conditions of determination,including methods of sample dissolution,choice of analytical spectral lines,spectral interferences of co-existing elements and working parameters of the instrument were studied thoroughly.The spectral line (S 181.972 nm) in the ultraviolet ragion was selected for the determination to prevent the interference of large amounts of calcium in the matrix.Test for precision of the method was made with 5 standard or known samples,giving values of RSD′s (n=5) less than 1.5%.Blank tests were done for 11 times and the detection limit (3S) was calculated,giving the value of 0.01 mg·L-1.Accuracy of the method was checked by the analysis of some CRM′s (e.g.,NBS 89 and GBW 03117),the results obtained were in consistency with the certified values.
