    ICP-AES Determination of Phosphorus in Copper Alloys-Separation of Matrix Elements with Cation Exchange Resin

    • In a slightly acidic medium of pH 3-4,matrix elements of copper alloys in form of cations were separated by passing through an ion exchange column packed with cation exchange resin of strong-acidic polystyrene type.Phosphate in the solution eluted from the column was acidified,evaporated and finally made up to 25 mL in a volumetric flask,and determined by ICP-AES.Detection limit (3σ) of the method was found to be 0.026 mg·L-1.Test for recovery was made by standard addition method and the value of average recovery found was 101.9%.
