ICP-AES Determination of Mn,P,Cu,Cr,Ni,Mo,V and Al in 70 Ferrotitanium

Abstract
A method of ICP-AES determination of 8 elements,i.e.,Mn,P,Cu,Cr,Ni,Mo,V and Al,in ferrotitanium was proposed.It was found that the sample was suitably dissolved in conc.HCl (3 mL) and conc.HNO3 (3 mL),and that same amount of acids should be added to the matrix metals (i.e.pure iron and pure titanium powder) in the preparation of working curves.Those spectral lines showing low detection limits and less spectral interferences were selected as the analytical spectral lines for determination of the 8 elements.By using the matrix matching method in preparation of working curves,the matrix interference was eliminated.Values of detection limit (3s/b) for the 8 elements were found in the range of 0.002-0.02 mg·L-1.Tests for accuracy and precision were made by analyzing a standard sample (YSBC 15602) for 11 determinations,results of the 8 elements found were in consistency with the known values,and values of RSD′s (n=11) obtained were in the range of 0.74%-4.11%.
