Abstract
In the qualitative analysis of pilose antler by fourier transform-near infrared spectrometry (FT-NIRS) with the software OPUS/Ident,discrimination and identification of samples of different species and geographical origins was performed by collecting their NIR spectra and calculating the Euclidean distances,i.e the spectral distances D,among the spectra. It was proved by the analytical results that the FT-NIRS is a better and more reliable method, for its special features of rapidity and non-destructive,in comparing with the conventional methods, which are laborious and time-consuming. It was also shown that the results obtained by FT-NIRS were more objective than those obtained by the conventional methods, which depend much on the subjective judgement of experienced analytical chemists.
