Abstract
Based on the derivatization of 2-chlorobenzaldehyde(Cl-BZD) with phenylhydrazine giving fluorescent schiff′s base,a fluorophotometric method for the indirect determination of 2-chlorobenzaldehyde was proposed.The reaction was carried out in an ethanol-water medium at pH 1.0.Wavelengths of excitation and emission maxima of the schiff′s base produced were found at 552.0 nm and 229.2 nm respectively.Linearity was obtained in the range of 0 to 120 μg·L-1 expressed as 2-chlorobenzaldehyde,and the detection limit was found to be 0.2 μg·L-1.RSD (n=11) of 0.21% was obtained at the concentration level of 50 μg·L-1 of 2-chlorobenzaldehyde.In the application of the method to the analysis of physiological saline,glucose injection,mineral water and tap water samples,recoveries in the range from 102%-104% were obtained.
